Cyberjaya: Malaysian director Michael D’Oliveiro’ first visit in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology talks to Journalism students in Limkokwing Marketing Theatre on 25th-October-2010 at 1:45pm.
 
The guest speaker Michael D'Oliveiro was received with a splendid welcome by Limkokwing University FCMB staff members and students at the plaza.

 
Being in TV drama, corporate videos and regional commercials, Michael has worked with production companies and broadcasters like Media Prima (Malaysia's version of Media Corp).

 
Michael has been writing for the Star Newspapers and life style magazines in Malaysia and at the same time working in Astro new media, video and demand running the Astro website.

 
“I am good writer and used to write scripts for my own short stories and for my creative writing I was called to work in the Star newspapers,” said Michael D’Oliveiro.

 
Michael has a column about the diver’s log book in the Star newspapers that appears in the third week of every month.

 
“Writing is an important tool in Journalism. If you have passion in writing then you can succeed writing for screen play,” said Michael D’Oliveiro.

 
Michael D’Oliveiro represented as a freelance assistant director on numerous commercials, music, videos and short films.

 
The producer in Media prima Michael further emphasizes on writing and encourages students to be focused and major in writing to succeed in Journalistic works.

CYBERJAYA: This morning at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology there was an exhibition from students of Faculty of Communication Media and Broadcasting showcased different types of exhibition ranging from videography, photography, design and performing arts.

 The event was witness by guest, staff and students from different faculty. As part of an effort to bridge education and application the students from FCMB join hand in hand to celebrate the glory, diversity and colours of Malaysia. 

The rationale behind the application of the 1Malaysia theme is to support the Prime Minister’s effort to unite and promote harmony within the country, which the University has always positioned itself as an ambassador. 

The event’s concept was inspired by the theme of 53rd Independence day “1 Malaysia generating transformation” the event also include photo competition whereby different prizes would be won by contestants.

 1st prize iPod shuffle (2GB) + RM50 epicentre voucher, 2nd prize Bone collection Flash Drive (8GB), 3rd prize Bone collection Flash drive (4GB) epicenter are the main sponsor of the event and prizes will be given out at 5pm.

Journalism talk with Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah

Over 25 journalism students from Limkokwing University attended a journalism talk by Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah, the assistant news director of BERNAMA Economical Service here at Limkokwing University.

Tengku Abdullah basically shared her experience of working as journalist for almost 20 years starting from working as a part time journalist at The Star until becoming an important figure at BERNAMA.

“I have been in this field for almost 20 years now and I like it because it is a challenging job,” said Tengku Abdullah when asked of why she chose to be a journalist.

Tengku Abdullah also added the key to be a good journalist is to have a strong determination and students also have to love what they are doing.

A former graduate in Mass Communication at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Tengku Abdullah had her ups and downs while working as a part time reporter at The Star.

“One time I was crying because I couldn’t get a PR person to give me information from the City Hall,” said Tengku Abdullah.

Tengku Abdullah also added,” It is important for a journalist to have a good connection with their main sources such as the police, PR people and also the public.”

She ended her talk by saying journalist must have a high passion of what they are doing and to always protect their sources.

At the end of the talk, students had the chance to take pictures with Tengku Abdullah and some of them were being given business cards personally from her.

 Cyberjaya:  Students at Limkokwing Universities all over the world are collecting actively now.
All and experience the cultural explosion of students from more than 150 countries present here at Limkokwing University.

This event which is run by the Merah Putih Club at the University is a platform for students to express their creativity and talent will host a colorful display of cultural dances and singing performances showcasing talents from a variety of nationalities at the University.

“This time we are raising funds for the flood victims in Pakistan,” said a LUCT spoke man.

This charitable event proved to be a success at the students were able to raise RM5, 000.

The students from Indonesia ware traditional dresses for the day.

Guests also treated to a fashion show exhibiting by Students of all creeds, nationalities and dialects. Promotional booths will be displayed at the Limkokwing Plaza promoting countries that are performing and will exhibit their cultural richness.

Various art pieces created by the student ambassadors were also displayed.

Be a part of this showcase of patriotism within nations and show the world what your country is made of.

Limkokwing stretches its wings to Yemeni knowledge seekers

Yemen’s Minister of higher Education and scientific research H.E Saleh Basorah launched the Yemen’s post graduate students exhibition on 18th-october-2010 in Limkokwing Universities Hall of Fame.

The event that took place at 11:30am students stood with a mutual respect for the presence of H.E distinguished guest.

“The main importance of the event is to discuss on topics concerning the setting up of a Limkokwing branch in Yemeni,” said Yemeni student Ambassador.

Angela Yahya Mansoor Abu-Asba majoring in the English language studies and linguistic from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) affirmed that there is a strong relationship between Yemeni and Malaysia in terms of creativity and she is so honored to have Minister of higher Education H.E Saleh Basorah.

The minister who later gave a speech in Arabic language and translated by one of the Limkokwing student from Yemeni.

H.E Saleh Bosorah, expressed his gratitude and claimed that he would welcome all Limkokwing to Yemen, moreover he stated that Limkokwing university has augmented the conception of creativity and innovation towards the students indeed.

By all and large the ceremony ended with launching the Yemeni postgraduate student exhibition in Malaysia 2010, students shared the glory with hot applause.

Pakistani Flood Victim Fund Raising Event

Cyberjaya - Limkokwing University students and staff have joined together to organize another 'Heal The World' event to raise awareness and funds for the victims of the floods in Pakistan.

The United Nations mentioned that an estimated 20 million people have been affected by the rain  and flooding that has left more than 1,700 dead in Pakistan.

Limkokwing staff, students and volunteers organized a bazaar in effort to raise money for the victims.

The charity campaign comprises of a two day event with an evening concert which will allow guests and students to contribute to the victims well being and safety at this trying time.

Limkokwing University has been successful in raising funds for victims of natural disasters in the past and is once more making an effort.

The bazaar which takes place on the 30th of September with consist of stalls providing Pakistani related products such as traditional Pakistani food, cultural clothes, accessories, cultural songs and stage shows.

The income from these items will go on to be donated to charity to aid the victims of the flood.

Cyberjaya - Join the “Malaysia 2010” event at the Amphitheatre, 13th October 2010, from 10am till 6pm and stand a chance to win an i-pod shuffle and more other prizes.

The event is held by students from Event Management, Faculty of Communication Media and Broadcasting of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology.

The title of the event is called “Malaysia 2010” it is a combination of 1 Malaysia and Creativity and Innovative.

The event will showcase performance and exhibition with 1 Malaysia, Creativity and Innovative elements.

Every student in Limkokwing University will have a chance to be spotted and taken photo by the crews from Event Management.

A prize for the best photo is an i-pod shuffle, second place is a 8GB pen drive from Bone Collection and third place will be 4GB pen drive.

The result will be announced at 13th October 2010, 6pm.
